Brick walls and repointing.
Worn mortar lets water in. In winter it freezes inside the wall, cracks the brick and damages what's behind it. We repair one section or rebuild the whole wall, depending on its condition.
When should brick mortar joints be redone?
Joints need repointing when the mortar crumbles, falls out or leaves holes. Otherwise water gets in, freezes in winter and cracks the brick. If the joints are deteriorated and the wall is wavy, the wall must be rebuilt. Maçonnerie Premium assesses your wall for free in Laval, on the North Shore and in Montreal.
Signs to watch for.
- “There are holes in your mortar joints.”
- “Your brick is cracked.”
- “The wall is crooked or bulging.”
- “Your wall was damaged (impact, frost, other).”
Repointing on time costs much less than rebuilding the wall later.
